Rainbow Lorikeet (Parrot)

Australia was often referred to as "Parrot Land" by early colonists, and it is only here where all three major groups of parrots: lorikeets, cockatoos, and true parrots are found. There are several other groups like rosellas, parakeets, macaws, lovebirds, and so on.

In Australia, some of the most commonly found parrots are Australian King Parrot, Galah, Sulfur-crested Cockatoo, Crimson Rosella, Little Corella, Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, Double-eyed Fig Parrot, Pale-headed Rosella, Scaly Breasted Lorikeet and Rain Lorikeet.

Today, I spot a Rainbow Lorikeet in a mix of all the rainbow colors. This type of parrots are generally found along the east coast and throughout the tropics of Australia especially on the edge of the forest or in urban areas where there are appropriate flowering trees.
