Home-Cooking: How to Use Up Leftover Ingredients


Home-cook: 2 dishes and 1 soup

In today's post, I'd like to share a little "tips" on how to prepare some simple dishes using the leftover ingredients we got in the kitchen. These recipes come in handy, when you're too lazy (or tired maybe) to go for groceries shopping (probably due to the oh-so-cold / hot weather) or when you got nothing much left (I'm talking about money here) in your pocket.

Home-cook: Mixed Veggie Soup

Basically, I just dumped everything (veggies) I got in my fridge like sweet corn, baby corn (bought them for 99 cents per pack from Coles yesterday), green peas, onion, potatoes, anchovies, carrots, minced garlic and shallot.

Home-cook: Garlic Chives & Onion Omelette

The ingredients needed to prepare this dish are just one big onion, a small bunch of garlic chives (don't have to add them if you don't have) and five 600g eggs, which is more than enough for 2 meals (lunch and dinner) for 2 people.

Home-cook: Stir Fried Chinese Spinach

I made use of Chinese Spinach (only $1.25 per bunch), Korean imported sliced pork belly (or just any pork belly / minced pork from the market) and a small amount of minced garlic for this dish, you can get these ingredients from Jasmine Asian at a reasonably low price.

  1. please.. u have good food too often :) you so-called 粗茶淡飯 is still very good, at least covers all nutriens that your body needs.
