I received a text from my mommy late last night saying...

2) BBC FLASHNEWS: Japan govt confirms radiation leak at Fukushima nuclear plants. Asian countries should take necessary precautions. Remain indoors first 24hrs. Close doors n windows. Swab neck skin with betadine where thyroid area is, radiation hits thyroid first. Take extra precaution, radiation may hit phil at startng 4pm 2day. Pls send to ur love ones"

I only get to read about it this morning since I've been practicing “early to bed, early to rise” for quite a while now. As a curious person who does not simply believe in something blindly without verification, I went google-ing for the keywords, "nuclear plant explosion Fukushima Japan acid rain", and the result leads me to this article here...
PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 14, 2011 – Do not panic. Read the update report and listen to the authorities.

Government officials and World Health Organization yesterday urged the public to stop panic over nuclear radiation in Japan to the Philippines, while the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Board makes use of unscrupulous people stop transmitting messages Text only serve to cause panic.

Japan has avoided the collapse of a mixture in a nuclear reactor hit followed by a second explosion rocked the hydrogen system. This rescuers combed survived the tsunami battered the northern part of Japan, which was destroyed on Friday, 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami. The Japanese authorities have notified about 10,000 people died.

Philippine Nuclear Research Institute said radiation levels remain normal in the country.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration denied SMS message will be "acid rain" in the country, apparently due to radioactive clouds from Japan.

Ordinario meteorologist Raymond said it was impossible for a steam engine or a nuclear leak to cause acid rain, because it contains no gaseous elements such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen.

"Sulfur dioxide is the main cause of acid rain ... Nuclear plants produce no air pollutants such as sulfur. Kaya na po impossible makapag-produce ng ITO acid rain, "he said.

Some text messages spread yesterday quoted the British Broadcasting Corp. as saying Japan had confirmed a leak in the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. He added that "Asian countries should take necessary precautions. Stay indoors for 24 hours. Close doors and windows. Swab the neck skin with Beta when your thyroid gland is the thyroid radiation early success. Take extra precautions, the radiation struck the Philippines begins 4:00 today. "

As the BBC reported yesterday that there was another explosion, and quoted officials as saying "the heart of the reactor was still intact."

Another text has warned of serious skin burns if they come and get wet by rain.

"We call on not making jokes about everything right now because our neighbors will be affected ... It is a serious matter," said Benito Ramos, Executive Director and Deputy Director of the Office of Civil Defense NDRRMC competitor.

"We want to allay the fears of our neighbors. Do not worry it will not be affected ... Do not listen to (for text). You must have the authorities," he added.

Overreaction

Dr. Soe Nyunt-U, WHO representative said that the country does not need to overreact to even more Japan.

"There is no cause for undue alarm. We are not close to Japan. We barriers of the sea wind conditions do not come to the Philippines. This is favorable for us. (Y), but something that happens, for now, I have any information in Japan, there is a risk to public health, "he said.

"Even if things are happening, that radioactive materials in the Philippines, not a matter of public safety at least. Even in Japan, has no effect except in the vicinity of the plants, he said.

The radiation level

The Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that there was no radiation reading high despite the explosion at the plant in Fukushima.

"Our level of background radiation are still normal ... There is nothing to fear," said Dost, PNRI Director Alumanda Dela Rosa.

She said that small amounts of radiation were released from the plant in Fukushima does not pass the territory of the Philippines, as the wind continues to move eastward.

"The direction of the smoke still seems to get away from the direction of the country (Philippines). The smoke carried by the northeast monsoon," she said.

In the case of a collapse in Fukushima, Dela Rosa said molten fuel should remain in the containment of stainless steel, preventing the release into the environment.

Dela Rosa said Dost-PNRI is to follow the evolution of Fukushima every six hours through its 24-hour merger with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The view Dost, a study by Fukushima plume track website World Meteorological Organization, based in Melbourne, Australia showed that the plume where the incident would not enter the area of the Philippines, 14 March.

Scientific Secretary Mario Montejo said, citing reports by the IAEA containment remains unchanged Fukushima Daiichi Unit 1, 2 and 3

"Fukushima reactor design is different from that of the Chernobyl nuclear plant," he said. "In the case of a collapse in Fukushima, the liquid fuel must remain in the stainless steel containment, preventing its release into the environment."

Chernobyl did not have a concrete reactor building and the shield of steel containment, "he added.

Dust Storm Shrouds Toowoomba, Southern Queensland

Toowoomba Dust Storm
I woke up and noticed that the color of the sky reflected on my wardrobe mirror was unfathomably yellowish brown today. Immediately, I walked towards the study desk to check out the time, as I did not have my glasses on. I was like OMG?! What happened?!!! It was only 11 something in the morning, not 4 or 5 in the afternoon. And therefore, it's impossible for the sky to be in such unusual color at this time of the day. My first instinct rushed me to snap some photos, then I started google for the keywords, "dust storm september 23 2009 toowoomba".

Gillian Chung's Press Release Video

I've translated Gillian's speech from Cantonese to Mandarin, hopefully it will help you to understand more about the content of this video. I believe there are a lot of Gillian Chung's haters out there who hates her very, very much, same goes to Cecilia Cheung, Bobo chan and other victims' haters. It's gonna take at least several years for the public to get over it, for the ugly scandal to fade away. The point is are you willing to forgive the victims after all these?

Whether Gillian was to attend the press release with smile or tears, pretending or telling the truth, still people will have something to say about her or even curse her to death. So if she dies, everyone would be happy and celebrating with fireworks? I'm not on anybody's side, but if I were to choose between "hate" and "forgiveness", I'll go for forgiveness instead cause hating takes far too much energy, time, and effort.

SHAH ALAM (Nov 29, 2007): A 25-year-old fashion designer, whose photos were put up on the Internet in a plea to the public to help look for her following her abduction at Hicom Glenmarie Industrial Park here early Wednesday, was freed by her assailants today.

The woman, who works for a textile and footwear company, was walking to her office on Jalan U1/20 after parking her car in an open carpark nearby, when a Toyota Camry pulled over next to her at about 9am.

It is learnt that two men stepped out and bundled the victim into the car, which sped off after that.

The incident was witnessed by her colleagues, who alerted the police.

It is learnt that for the next 22 hours, the victim was taken on a terror ride to several locations, including Seremban.

Shah Alam deputy police chief Supt Mohd Shariff Abd Wahid said the woman was released in Taman Midah, Cheras today after her abductors managed to withdraw RM3,500 from her bank accounts through automated teller machines.

The woman was sent for a medical check-up in Selayang Hospital where she was warded.

"We have yet to record a tatement from her on what transpired throughout her ordeal but we are tracking down the abductors based on the information we have," Mohd Shariff said.

After informing the police, the victim’s colleagues sent out emails with several photos of her and a note urging the public to alert the police if they spot her.

Blogs and online forums also put out word on her abduction which became a hot topic of discussion in several websites.

Mohd Sharif said although the police understood the colleagues’ concern for her safety, the police did not encourage the public to post details on the Internet.

He said this can put the victim's life in danger should the abductors discover that the police were looking for them.

Trio rape girl after car chase

JOHOR BARU: A 19-year-old girl was raped by three men as her 22-year-old boyfriend could only watch helplessly, after he had been slashed twice.

The victims were abducted by four men after a brief car chase and taken to a secluded area in Taman Tampoi Indah where the girl was raped.

The victims had been on their way to the city from Pontian at 10.30pm on Monday when a car rammed them from behind in Gelang Patah.

Sensing trouble, they did not stop but the vehicle chased after them. After about 10km, the victims’ car broke down near Nusajaya.

Two men armed with parangs stepped out of the car while another two remained inside.

The two took the victims’ belongings but the boyfriend tried to escape. How- ever, he was caught by one of the assailants and slashed twice on his right leg. He was also punched and kicked.

The victims were then forced into the assailants’ car and taken to Taman Tampoi Indah, where three of the suspects took turns raping the girl while the fourth man watched.

They then fled.

The girl managed to flag down a passer-by and the two were taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment.

The man is currently receiving treatment while the girl has lodged a report at the Tampoi police station.

Johor Baru (south) OCPD ACP Shafie Ismail confirmed the case. He urged those with information on the case to call the police at 07-221 2999 or the nearest police station.

Primeval

I was wondering if this is really a true story after I watched it, so I started to do a little research on this crocodile named Gustave. Finally, I found it on National Geographic as well as BCC which I've posted below...

By Christophe Nkurunziza
BBC, Bujumbura

Burundi's not so gentle giant

Gustave is being feted in Burundi as possibly Africa's largest crocodile. Some are even saying he could be one of the world's biggest fresh water crocodiles.

The reptile, people are guessing could be as long as six metres and as heavy as a tonne, which, even allowing for exaggeration, would have him rivalling some of the largest saltwater crocodiles recorded.

He lives on a river island near Lake Tanganyika, in Burundi, and was given his name by Patrice Faye, a Frenchman who has lived in Burundi for about 20 years and has a keen interest in animals.

Mr Faye, who has been studying Gustave for several years, speaks about him with some fear.

A killer

"He is enormous. He is three times as big as the other crocodiles in Burundi. He is not very fast and cannot feed on what other crocodiles in Burundi eat - fish and small mammals. He attacks slow prey which are easy to capture."

The crocodile is greatly feared by local bathers and fishermen.

"Gustave is very dangerous when he gets out of the Ruzizi River to mate with females.

"He travels all the way to the areas of Rumonge and Minago and eats fishermen and bathers en route," Mr Faye says.

"He can eat 10, 15 or 20 people along the bank."

"One year, I followed the path he took on one of his forays and 17 people had been eaten between Kanyosha and Minago, and Kabezi and Magara."

However, Gustave spends most of his days near his island.

According to local people many have tried to kill him and failed.

Animal conservation agencies are saying he should be protected and Mr Faye agrees saying killing him should be "out of the question".

"It would be a great shame as he is a phenomenon we want to study scientifically."

However, catching Gustave has proved difficult so far.

"I have made a trap to try to catch him: 10 metres long, two metres wide and 1.50 metres high. It is gigantic, 40 men were needed to transport it," Mr Faye says.

"We placed it into the Ruzizi, put bait inside and spent the whole night in the river with cameras.

"But it was a total failure. The crocodile was parading outside the cage, teasing us, and we were unable to catch it.

"We wanted to catch it to make a report which will be shown around the world and make Gustave and Burundi famous," he said.

But for now Burundi's killer crocodile remains free.

There's something which I must say to the GSC Management (Gurney Plaza) "YOUR SOUND SYSTEM SUCKS TO THE MAX and SO DO YOUR SCREENS & STAFFS" (but not all staffs). Is it really so hard to maintain the sound systems and everything inside the cinemas? or the management can't afford to do so?!

Another one thing that really annoyed me and I must voice it out here is WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE TO TALK WHEN WATCHING MOVIE?! As you know, all the kids in primary and secondary schools are now having 1 week holiday. That causes cinemas full with kids and partially of them are not being MATURE enough to control their behaviors in cinemas (I'm not talking about you).
There were this "young boy" who's about form 5 sitting next to me, on my right side was crapping throughout the show, his elbow kept on hitting me on my body. I was like wth! Is the chair really that small or is it you really that fat *grumpy* I don't dare to tell my boi during that time cause I know he will surely scold that "young boy" which I don't want it to happen. There's something GAY about this "young boy" which I cannot take. He likes to say "EEE" so loudly whenever he saw the crocodile attacking human *bang myself on the wall and spilt blood*

Other than that, there's another few more "young boys" at the back giving so called COMMENTS like they're the GRAMMY-AWARDS WINNING DIRECTORS when others are enjoying the movie. My boi did ask them to hush but still they continued talking like nobody's business. I'm not saying it's a CRIME or GUILTY to talk in the cinema but at least you can WHISPER !!! It's not so hard I guess, I tried to comfort and calm my boi down at that time cause his volcano was about to errupt, LoL *muackz* *sayang*

Even parents don't give a damn on their kid's attitude!!! There were 2 kids in front of us talkin' so loud & my boi was trying to hint 'em by knocking 3 times on the back of their seats. Guess what happened next? The mother turned 'round & starred at my boi, LoL... what a good way to teach your kids. If that's my mom, she would've starred at me instead of starring at others =P strict mommy...
