At eight minutes past eight on the eighth day of the eighth month of 2008 (08/08/08), Chinese local time, My friends and I gathered together at Benny's house to witness the Opening Ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympics live on Australia's Channel 7.
The fireworks-filled Beijing Games opening ceremony officially opened at the National Stadium, which is also known as the "Bird's Nest" stadium in front of 90,000 spectators and more than 4 billion television audiences worldwide.
The Beijing sky was filled with fireworks over and over again. While every other was enjoying the show, I helped out Benny with the egg tart making and baking. Although, his first attempt was a failure, but all those hot-off-the-oven egg tarts did not fail to satisfy our appetite.
I believe not only us but everyone must be truly mesmerized and captivated by the Opening Ceremony last night. Their awesome performances have really blown me away.
Now, here comes the most awaited moment - Touch Lighting Ceremony. Former Chinese gymnastics champion, 45-year-old Li Ning carries the Olympic flame as he is lifted to the air and runs towards the cauldron of the Beijing Olympic Games.
Li Ning runs along the 500-meter-long, 14-meter-wide brim of the bowl-shaped, roofless top of the Bird's Nest, which is also a gigantic screen and finally lights the cauldron of the Beijing Olympic Games.
