Haze is getting worse today with API (Air Pollution Index) spikes up to as high as 134. Sad to know that the reading has finally elevated from moderate to unhealthy range. Public is urged to minimize / avoid outdoor activities if possible. Most of the people around me are sick and I, myself feel uncomfortable in breathing as well. So peeps, do drink plenty of fluids and keep your mask on whenever exposed to the haze please. The last thing I want is seeing more people getting sick.
Now, my road trip to Ipoh continues...
Now, my road trip to Ipoh continues...
Glancing at a fancy menu, overlooking one of the best night views in Ipoh. #MoneyCantBuyExperience
Where was I? The MU Rooftop Bar in Ibis Hotel. Star-gazing while sipping on a glass of fruit punch, I wished. But it was drizzling that night with barely a star visible in the dark grey sky.
Cozy and comfy accommodation for the night. You will never believe if I were to tell you that it was my first time staying overnight here in Ipoh. LOL.
Next morning, after buffet breakfast and checking out from the hotel, we stumbled into an interesting stall hand-making 龙须糖 from scratch. They're available in yam (taro), honey and cendol flavors wrap around grounded peanut fillings. 龙须糖 literally means "Dragon Beard Candy" and it tastes pretty much like mochi without the spongy texture.
Years passed and the owner of Funny Mountain Soy Bean Pudding still selling them in white sugar only. Why not brown sugar?!
Overfed fishes like catfish, tilapia and more are found in this vast lake which used to be a mining pond.
In case you didn't realize, we have already arrived at Gunung Lang Recreation Park upon seeing the man-made cascading waterfall atop a limestone hill. Entrance fee was RM3 including boat ride. Steamy hot weather with sweats running down our backs when queuing for the boat ride. Phew.
We were disappointed by how poorly maintained the recreational park was, in terms of hygiene and appearance. The staircase inside this tower was a total disgrace.
The green pathway on the "island". Main attractions are the ostriches and deer I would say.
Dear ostrich, I'm as frighten as you are. Please do not peck my head or any part of my body, thanks.
A sweetcorn flavored soft-serve cone to chill the heat of Monday afternoon. Aww, how I miss having those ice-cream buns right now =(
Oldtown White Coffee Grand at M Boutique Hotel. This is definitely the best Oldtown franchise I have ever visited so far. We were there for an afternoon tea and a little chit-chatting before the rain pours down harder on us.
Famous Curry Noodle at Yee Fatt Coffee Shop (怡发咖啡店). We ordered dried curry koay teow instead as the noodles already sold out. Very thick and creamy by looking at its gravy and the barbecue pork (char siu) was delish.
Surprisingly fragrant and delicious Thai-Style Fried Rice I had in Secret Recipe Autocity, emphasizing in capital letters, with TWO BIG AND FRESH PRAWNS. Satisfaction guaranteed.
Cempedak aka Artocarpus integer cake which tastes real good. There are just too many good food / local specialties in Ipoh that tempt you to bring them home, don't you think?
